    Cool cool

I'm writing as I'm listening so bear with me,
i like the buildup but the moogish bass in the second portion turns me off a bit.
really interesting bass in the next section (Around 1:00). Its sound like you took an analog and made it digital as fuck. haha. Its all mixed together nicely to sound kinda sneaky and suspenseful. But it kinda seems to lack a climax. I feel like ive been waiting for a nice big drop, but it's not coming. Anyways nice song i guess haha.

Just gonna give you some rough critique here.

In the intro you could easily cut out the feedback thats doing nothing but muddying the track. Another little blunder is that transition at like :39. Just little technical recording things.

Secondly is the tone of the guitar. Its got a lot of bassiness and seems to be lacking mid. Scooping mids is fun while practicing but they need to be present in recording and live playing. Maybe also bring up the treble a little more so it just has more presence.

Lastly is the drums. They've got a good black metal trancey feel, like Wolves In the Throne Room, but you want your cymbals to have a little more decay, so that they kinda run together. Thatll give it that nice black metal sound:)

    Nice playing, keep it up

    oscarsmack responds:

haha yeh, the drums are just on a loop, i didn't really put any effort into them to be honest, but my guitars got out of sync at the 0:39 spot, so I had to re-copy the drum track and shove it right in there, so that's what's up with the rough transistion.
and yeh, I know high treble and low bass is more suitable for black metal, but i usually play death metal, so I use pretty much no middle, little treble and a lot of bass to give it the heavy, sludgy sound. but since I plan to start trying to fuse death and black, I know I'll have to find a good balance between both tones/styles.
thank's for the review, I can tell you know what you're talking about \m/

I like the melody of this piece but there's several things that are a bit off.
The most drastic and offset if the mismatching of the harmony. I haven't learned enough music theory to tell you exactly what it is thats messing it up but its like your not even quite hitting the notes, your hitting like odd semitones. And that bass harmony you've got going is slightly off too i think.

Another big thing is the portamento you have between the notes. Its awkward timing and makes it sound out of tune during each switch. Try to reduce the time it takes to switch notes, and don't play while your switching. Basically just enunciating each note. If your going for the legato, you need to make sure that its a steady slide.

The last thing is just your rhythm. Make sure you play with a metronome. Its not drastic but you fall away from the beat a few times. It's especially noticeable in the bass harmony.

    btriangle responds:

Thanks a lot man, I am actually going to make another recording soon, once i have mastered what you have just told me. I am glad to see that people are recognizing my mistakes, and i can use that as an asset.

Did you even make this? cause in october you submitted a pisspoor fruity loops dubstep song, then you pump these 2 out after 2 months. If you didnt make em take em down before you get in twouble.

    Tekkom responds:

I obivously didnt make these..thats why i said guess the name, get a surprise...

    That bass synth

The synth you used as the bass or whatever, its weak and sounds too flat. Pop in some subs and tweek the synth. the rest is..... the rest is like, kinda boring, i dunno, its okay for what it is.

    xMiggyx responds:

hmm true, ill add some subs and add distortion to the main synth which should make it sound better

    Well done

You've created an appallingly average version of an appallingly average Christmas song! No unnecessary embellishments or new melodies in THIS Christmas choral! Why shock the audience when you can easy them into something they're already okay with!

I grant you a very medial 5/10 stars!

    camoshark responds:

    Ummm, thanks? :/

I think you've kind of miscomprehended the point of a choral. You don't change the theme, you change the chords. Have you ever thought of maybe listening to other things than the main melody?

If you'd had REALLY listened to the song, you'd have heard that there is in fact multiple countermelodies, and the chord progression is sufficiently complex for me to say : I don't want your cynical smart-ass reviews if they don't bring a point to the author!

Anyways, I wish you a fantastic day, and happy holidays. -.-

Holy tits man, this shits super brutal. I love the fuckin vocals and that fast chugging

    and those CATS, man! \m/

    Couple things

You're a great player and the mastering on these is phenomenal for NG tracks.
The only thing I have to complain about is some personal opinions, so take em or leave em.
I've never really liked a softy intro on a song, theyre kinda boring and hard to make them sound original. I understand that it kinda sets the atmosphere, but I just feel like they arent needed.
Also when you come in with the heavy riff, it just sounds really major and therefore not very heavy. Just suggesting a more minor chord progression there.

Well anyways good job and keep rockin.

    Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks dude, glad you dig it over all. Next album will have some kills to it for everyone.

Thanks for the review and listen, dude!
